Point Spread Bets - Different Bets Types

Written by Garion on June 15th, 2010 in Bet Types, Centsports Guides.

A Point Spread is the number of points added to or subtracted from a team’s actual score for betting purposes.

The favorite is indicated by the minus sign “-” and the underdog is indicated by the plus sign “+”. To determine the winner for betting purposes, the Point Spread is added to the final score of the team you bet on. Point Spread rules are as follows:

  • To win the bet, the team the bettor wagered on must win by the Point Spread.
  • Games that tie when taking the point spread into consideration are no action which means the original bet amount will be refunded.
  • The odds are $1.10 to win $1.00 (-110) unless otherwise indicated.
  • The bettor cannot place a Point Spread bet on opposing teams.
  • The bettor can place a Point Spread bet on one team and a Money Line bet on the opposing team.
  • The bettor can combine a Point Spread bet with a Totals bet.
  • The Point Spread may change between the time the bettor places his bet and the time the event starts; regardless, his bet is subject to the point spread displayed at the time he placed his bet.

Do you still use V1? If so - why?

With Centsports V2 now available on both Firefox and IE have you switched across to the new site version?

Centsports would like to know, have you tried V2 and switched back to V1, if so what was the reason. Did you not like the layout? Was it slow in places? or another reason?

There is currently a thread running on the forum so you can share your feelings and opinion on V2.

Written by Garion on February 7th, 2010 in Football, NFL.

Just an update on how the betting figures are progressing, with around six hours to kick-off there are already an amazing 30,000 bets placed. With the rest of the days bets finishing hopefully it will be possible to at least double that amount.

Another update with 2 hours left before betting closes.

16,000 more bets and some support for New Orleans, Spread and Moneyline changed in their favor.

Betting has closed and there are 5000 more user bets than last years Superbowl.

    Superbowl and Play-offs

Written by Garion on February 3rd, 2010 in Football, NFL.

Here we go again, it’s Superbowl time in less than a week and the two best teams will be playing in Superbowl XLIV. The Indianapolis Colts are currently a 6 point favorite over the New Orleans Saints.

Just like other sports I have posted the recent play-off betting figures below so we can all see how many people are betting on each games.

Philadelphia Eagles versus Dallas Cowboys (# Users: 26914)
Baltimore Ravens versus New England Patriots (# Users: 25901)
Green Bay Packers versus Arizona Cardinals (# Users: 31167)

    College National Championship

Written by Garion on December 29th, 2009 in Football.

It’s that time again when we see the outcome of months of games and see who will be this years National Champions.

On the 7th January we will see two heavyweight unbeaten teams battle it out and claim College honors.  Looking at today’s spread we see that Alabama are 4.5 point favorites over Texas.

It will be interesting to see if this years game beats the 51227 member bets from last years Florida win over Oklahoma.
