NBA Finals Betting Figures

Written by Garion on Friday, June 5th, 2009 in Basketball, NBA.

Like previous finals I have tracked the betting figures on the games so thought it would be an idea to do the same with the NBA Finals that started in Los Angeles last night. Due to the multiple games we wont be seeing the kind of figures that were seen for the NFL Superbowl but still impressive figures.

NBA Picks for tonight the 5th of March:

Indiana Pacers (+11) over Houston Rockets:

Yes the Rockets are on a mad winning streak, 15 games, but 11 points is a lot to give a team. Indiana is battling for the playoffs and against the Rockets are 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 at Houston. They have gone 4-0-1 ATS on the road in their last 5. Against teams with records over .625, they are 6-0 ATS as the underdog - Stat taken from covers…This is an expert’s pick on Covers.com, and I like it as well…On sportsbetting.com, I took Indiana on the Moneyline at +425 to beat the Raptors in Toronto last week, and they won by 11! They were 11 point underdogs…I think Houston will continue their winning streak, but I don’t think it will be as easy as Vegas is making everyone think…Take the points for Indy

Confidence Level: 9

New York Knicks (+4) over Cleveland Cavaliers:

In Cleveland’s last outing, Lebron James took over late in the 4th quarter to beat the Bulls by 9 in Cleveland. It was surprisingly close. But the key factor is that Zydrunas Ilgauskas is out with a hurt back. He is a big cog in their offense down low. They travel to New York to face a team who lost 100-88 against the New Orleans Hornets at home 2 nights ago. But had Isiah Thomas not made a silly substitution late in the game, he took out Nate Robinson with the Knicks down 4, the game might have had a different outcome. New York is surprisingly tough at home, it is New York after all. Also, Delonte West may miss tonight’s game due to personal reasons, (death in the family). With him out, I don’t think that Cleveland can rely on Damon Jones to carry the workload at the point efficiently. If Delonte West is out tonight, I think the Knicks can win outright, but for now, I’m just taking the points since it is not definite.

Confidence Level: 8

Cleveland Cavs OVER 192 against New York Knicks:

This seems like a simple pick tonight. The teams have met twice already this season, with the point totals being 198 and 216…Both teams combine to AVERAGE 192 points together on offense total…I like those 2 stats right there, so I’m keeping this pick short and sweet. Take OVER 192.

Confidence Level: 9

NCAAB Pick for Wednesday night the 5th:

Oklahoma State (-4.5) over Oklahoma Sooners:

Ahhh, Bedlam…This is difficult for me to pick against my Sooners as I live in Norman…Oklahoma travels to play Oklahoma State who is arguably the hottest team in the Big 12 right now. They have won 6 of their last 7 in conference and are on a 5 game winning streak…OSU is 13-3 at home this season, while the Sooners are 3-6 on true road games this year…The key factor in tonight’s matchup is this, Blake Griffin had arthroscopic knee surgery on Sunday and is out the rest of the regular season. He is OU’s best threat to help win on the road, but is out tonight. I don’t see this being close, I’m glad the game isn’t on ESPN, because my Sooners are about to be embarrassed. Even worse than A&M was when OU beat them 64-37 last weekend Wink Take OSU up to -6.

Confidence Level: 10

Good luck tonight.

Summary of Picks for Friday the 29th of February:

Alright I’m bringing it in early boys, the Lakers aren’t gonna cover, but my 2 other games were correct, so I went 2-1 tonight. Golden State and Philly combined to score 216, which was 1 point better than the set line of 215! Thanks Kelenna Azubuike, he stroked a 3 with 30 seconds left and no one scored after that. In my last pick, I had Fairfield at -6, and while they were down at half, they mounted a huge comeback and ended up winning by 12, 83-71…I didn’t know Brandon Roy was returning from his injury tonight, or else I may not have picked the Lakers in that game! With a minute left in the game, he has 20 points and 12 assists…He’s what keeps the Trailblazers going, without him, they wouldn’t make the playoffs in the West.

Picks for Saturday the 1st of March:

Forgive me for short write-ups, its late and I’m trying to get picks up in case their are early games…I wanna sleep in!

NCAAB Picks:

Texas (-5.5) over Texas Tech:
I dunno why, but Texas is getting the best lines for the bettors. They weren’t favored against K-State last week! Well, this one blows my mind as well. They won 73-47 against the Red Raiders at home a little over 1 month ago…All I have to say about this game is this, in Tech’s last game out, they lost by 44 to Texas A&M.

Confidence Level: 10

Memphis (-12) over Southern Missippiipipsiipsi:

Memphis as everyone knows, lost last week, they are on a mission. This Southern Mississippi team who lost 95-68 in their last game will most likely have a repeat performance because Memphis is pissed off.

Confidence Level: 9

Houston (-10) over East Carolina:

This game is at ECU, but that doesn’t matter much because they have lost 3 of 5 there which includes losses to Tulsa, Tulane, and Southern Mississippi, (the team that Houston beat by 27 earlier in the week). I see this game being over at half-time.

Confidence Level: 9

Sorry for so few picks, thats all I saw that stuck out immediately, when I wake up tomorrow, I’ll be looking into more detail about certain games, and I may post more. Goodnight everyone.

NBA Picks for Friday the 29th of February:

LA Lakers (-8) over Portland Trailblazers:

I gotta go with the hot hand. LA comes in having won 10 in a row…LA won at home last night over Miami in a game that didn’t get close after the 1st quarter, the Lakers won 106-88…Portland is coming off of a road win where they nearly blew a 42-29 halftime lead against the Clippers, only to win by 2, 82-80…Portland hasn’t covered in their last 3 home games, which include losses to Boston, and Sacramento, they did beat Seattle though, but didn’t cover. I like LA to cover.

Confidence Level: 8.5

Golden State Warriors (OVER 214.5) against Philadelphia 76ers:

GS and Philly both come in as hot teams, the 76ers have won 8 of 10 and the Warriors have won 7 of 10…The difference maker in this game is the fact that Golden State is 19-10 at home this year, while Philadelphia visits with a 10-18 road record…Golden State won earlier this season in Philadelphia by 2, 100-98…Golden State gives up points though just as much as they like to score them at home. In Golden State’s last 8 home games, they have given up less than 207 only 1 time, and even then, 204 total points were scored in that lone game. The other 7 games had totals of 207, 227, 236, 238, 237, 222, and 224. I like the over easily. I’m predicting 230 total in this shootout.

Confidence Level: 9

NCAA Picks for tonight the 29th:

Fairfield (-6) over Manhattan:

Fairfield has already won their previous matchup this season, in Manhattan, 66-61…Manhattan is 6-24-1 in their last 31 games ATS overall…Fairfield comes in having won 8 of 10, while Manhattan has lost 7 of 10…I like Fairfield quite easily, Manhattan is in a big slump, they lost to Binghamton in their last game by 10 :/ …I told that guy who is trying to, “Take Vegas,” to pick this game and let it ride tonight…He kills me

Confidence Level: 9.5

Good luck tonight everyone.

Summary of Picks for Wednesday the 27th of February:

Another gloom night picks-wise, the only pick I had cover was Houston (-8) over Southern Mississippi. They won 95-68, they had a player score 52 freakin’ points. Wow. My other picks all lost, badly might I add…Orlando was down by as much as 20+ points in the FIRST HALF and ended up losing 101-89…Detroit had a collapse that is very unlike them, they were up 13 and ended up losing 103-95, due to Mehmet Okur deciding that he’s gonna throw up 3’s all day. It was sickening, especially due to the fact that just the night before, the Jazz lost badly to Milwaukee and Detroit had rest…In my last pick, my Oklahoma Sooners managed to score 12 points in the 1st half against Nebraska somehow! They ended up losing 63-45, scoring 45 for the 2nd game in a row. Quite disappointing.

Picks for Thursday the 28th of February:

I’m sticking to NCAA tonight, I’ve been doing much better with NCAA picks than NBA so here goes for tonight:

Arkansas State (-3.5) over Louisiana Monroe:

Both teams are horrible, LA Monroe is 10-18, and ASU is 9-19…ASU though is 8-6 at home, while LA Monroe is 3-12 on the road. These teams met earlier @ LA Monroe, and ASU won 89-82 and LA Monroe was favored by 4.5…

Confidence Level: 8

Notre Dame (ML) OVER Louisville:

Take it. Notre Dame will win.

Confidence Level: 8

UCLA (-6.5) over Arizona State:

UCLA is ranked in the top 5 as usual, and ASU is in a big conference slump. UCLA wins by double digits.

Confidence Level: 9

Georgia Southern (+1) over Charleston:

GSU is 20-9, Charleston is 12-16…GSU needs this win to help their NCAA chances if they don’t win their conference.

Confidence Level: 10

Good Luck everyone!

NBA Picks for Wednesday the 27th of February:

Last night was rough in the NBA with the majority of games being covered by the underdogs, 5 out of 8 total, with Orlando, Phoenix and Houston being the only teams to cover, and hardly no one chose Houston because of Yao Ming’s injury ending his season)…I look to get back on track tonight, there is a tough slate of games tonight, but there are some gimmies it looks like to me…Here we go…

Detroit (Pick) over Utah:

This game is in Utah, where the Jazz are one of the league’s elite at home. They are 24-3 at home this season…Detroit comes into their 3rd game of this road trip off of 2 huge wins, @ Denver and @ Phoenix, (by 30 points!). While the Jazz’s home record is impressive, the Pistons are a very solid 20-10 on the road…Considering the Jazz lost to Minnesota last night, (and badly might I add they were trailing by double digits most of the game), I like the Pistons winning this game outright since they have had a night off since their big Denver win. The Jazz have been in a slump since the All-Star break, and they don’t seem to be doing anything to right the ship anytime soon. Take Detroit all the way up to -4.

Confidence Level: 9

Orlando Magic (-2) over Philadelphia 76ers:

The Magic travel to Philly for the 2nd game of a back-to-back. They visit the 76ers fresh off of a 102-92 win over a new-look New Jersey Nets team last night in NJ, where the Nets had won 4 straight…5 days ago, the 76ers visited Orlando and received a spanking, 115-99…Surprisingly, the Magic are a better team on the road than they are at home. Their record at home is 16-11, on the road, they are 21-11. Philly is only 15-14 at home this year and although they are playing better as of late, (they’ve won 7 of 9), it doesn’t mean they are better than the Magic Smile…I like Orlando easily, especially since they beat them 5 days ago by 16…

Confidence Level: 9

NCAAB Picks for Wednesday the 27th:

Houston (-8) over Southern Missippiipsssiiisiiispippi:

This game is in Houston, where the Cougars are 14-2 this season… USM comes to Houston having only won only 2 games out of 10 on the road this season. Those games were against Tulane and East Carolina…Houston has been trying to keep pace with Memphis in the Conference USA league, but the Tigers recently have pulled away. Houston has quietly been a great team, and they like to score a lot. They average 78 per game and give up 10 less than that…This game is a big one for Houston, as they need to rack up a couple more league wins to jockey for a good seed in the NCAA tourney, with this being at home for them, I see a double digit win for them, with a 10+ point lead by the half.

Confidence Level: 8

Oklahoma Sooners (ML or +2) against Nebraska Cornhuskers:

Nebraska is one of those tough teams that get up for big games but don’t get up for the small ones. They have won 2 straight over ranked teams, beating Texas A&M and Kansas State, but even after those wins they are only 5-7 in the conference.. Put that aside for now…OU hosted Nebraska earlier this season, and won handily, 70-53. Both teams come in on the bubble for the NCAA tourney, moreso the Sooners though than the Huskers. The Sooners lost to a VERY GOOD Texas team this last Saturday, 62-45, while Nebraska beat A&M. I keep up with my Sooners, and I know that after the butt-whipping Texas gave us, Coach Capel will have the Sooners ready for this game. The oddsmakers are caught up with Nebraska’s last 2 wins that they have decided to favor the Huskers. This game isn’t between ranked teams though, and this crowd will not be sold out, I don’t think the Huskers have the playmakers that OU does and I don’t see this being closer than a 7 or 8 point win for Oklahoma.

Confidence Level: 9

Good Luck everyone!
