Showing On TV Link

Written by Garion on Tuesday, March 9th, 2010 in CentSports Updates.

Centsports now has a new tab “Showing On TV”.

ontv

For those people that have been using V2 you may or may not have noticed some new options at the bottom of your “my account” page.

privperm

If you wish you now have the chance to limit the people that can view your profile page. It can be left open for Everyone to view or you can limit it to just Registered Users or even just your Centsports Friends.

Also for those that like to compete with their friends to see who is the better bettor now have the option to hide your pending bets so they can’t be copied. Like the profile options you have the choice of Everyone, Registered User, Friends or you can limit it to just you seeing your pending bets.

Finally you can also limit who can comment on your bets so you can stop the spam and trash talk on your bets. Again limit it to Registered Users, Friends or just you be able to comment.

nocomment

These options will come into full effect when the final switch is made to V2, currently the options only work for those that use V2. Those still using V1 wont be limited with the new options so they can still see your bets, profile and make comments.

Iphone/Palm Pre App Forum Thread

Written by Garion on Tuesday, October 13th, 2009 in CentSports Updates, V2.

Iphone/Palm Pre App Forum Thread

We are beginning the development of the CentSports application for the iPhone and Palm Pre as well as other mobile platforms. As with almost everything with the site we would love to hear what you personally would want to see in the application or any comments that you may have. I will ask that all comments pertain to the application and not to each others comments and that every response is constructive.

Here are some basic questions to be thinking about:

1) How long do you want to spend on this application? (i.e. how long to place a wager, how long to check your friends balances, etc.)

2) What features would you like to see in the application that are not currently present in the current version of the site?

3) How often would you guess that you would use this platform instead of the site itself? (In either a percentage or a number of wagers per week)

4) Do you own a smart phone or a phone with internet capability?

I am sure that there will be other questions that will follow, but this is a general overview and is not intended to be inclusive. If you have anything further to add then feel free to.

Once again, please keep all content in this thread related to the application and neither I nor anyone’s comments about the application. Also, please do not ask about an ETA as it is not currently known and does not want to be speculated upon!

Thank you very much for your consultation in this issue and I hope to be able to incorporate everything mentioned into the application.

Please post your comments suggestions in the forum thread below.

Hot out of the Oven: V2 Preview

Written by Garion on Monday, August 3rd, 2009 in CentSports, CentSports Updates, V2.

Hey guys! The day has come V2 Preview is upon us.

Before you get all super excited and stuff.

Read some text:

1. This is a beta. As such, comments, bug reports, etc etc are welcome. Make sure to keep them in the V2 sub-forum.
2. There are no new betting features in the preview. New features like props, etc are coming soon, but only when the preview is no longer … a preview
3. Yes, I realize the logo is completely and totally utter crap. A good, new one is coming soon.
4. More stuff coming here whenever I think of it

What’s New?

Man, lots of stuff.
0. FULL CODE REWRITE! So if somethings broken, it’s probably my fault.
1. New layout.
2. Nicer functionality.
3. Ajax sexiness
4. Site loading speed increase (should be fairly noticeable)
5. Profile images and social information
6. Privacy Options
7. New, sexier history graph.
8. Alerts whenever you get a comment, etc
9. Cross-sport parlays with selected wager preview
10. Most popular game list
11. etc.

What’s Coming?

Man, lots of stuff. Seriously. Yes, I know we don’t have props yet and that’s what everyone wants, but it is on the road-map for pretty soon.

What’s missing in the Preview?

Well, this is a preview only intended for existing users. As such, there’s no About Us, FAQ, email address change, crony invite page, registration page, top lists, and other misc crap. These are coming very soon. You guys know where it is in V1, feel free to go back to V1 if you need access to any of those things. No worries though, They’re coming soon.

Why no IE support?

Well, since it’s just a beta preview, I’ve taken the liberty to turn off IE support to save me time and effort. Internet Explorer is the worst browser ever to be created. It’s insecure and lacks standard compliance. This means people like me who spend one hour creating a page have to spend another two hours trying to make it work in IE6, 7, and 8, when it should work in FireFox an Safari out of the box. However, I acknowledge that a large chunk of our users are on IE. That’s why support for it is coming soon. In the meantime, just use FireFox or Safari (and for the love of everything good, don’t go back!)

So…. have at it: Centsports V2 Preview

Crony Money Plus New 10 Cents Change

Written by Garion on Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 in CentSports Updates.

There has been a change in the way you receive your new free 10 cents when you have run out of funds.

Previously when you collected your crony funds and then received the new 10 cents you were only given the 10 cents without crony earnings added.

This has now been changed so your crony earnings are added on top of the free 10 cents given by Centsports.

Cent2Go

What is it:

Basically, on CentSports, we’re always trying to think up new ideas to make your overall experience on the site better.

One the things we’ve been playing with is a mobile service that will allow you to find the spreads on games from your cellphone (for free, of course :) ). So we just finished a beta version of that, and hope that you’ll try it out.

The easiest way to tell you what it is is to just walk you through it.

How to use it:

Ok, let’s say I’m at a sports bar and I want to know the spread on a game. No comp around, but I do have my crappy cellphone with me. Perfect.

I dial (512)-CENT-2-GO (we looked for the cheesiest number we could think of … and I think we hit it pretty close to the mark. :) Also, later we’ll have an 800 version of this number up … not that any one cares about long distance any more).

Anyway, it asks you if you’re interested in the lines on a professional or college game, and then asks you if the game is a football, basketball, or baseball game.

Now here’s the fun part, you just enter in … pretty much anything close to one of the teams in the game you want, and … it tells you the spread, the current score if it’s in progress, what channel you can view it on if it’s televised, the over under, etc.

And it’s pretty easy to do … like you just spell out the team name, and it’s a simple system too … A, B or C = 2, D E or F = 3, etc.

A quick example:

Say I want to find out about the Sacramento Kings versus Denver Nuggets NBA game.

So I dial 512-CENT-2-GO

I tell it I want an NBA game, and then I could enter:

KINGS (54647)

on the dialpad, or I could enter

SACNUGET (722684438)

or

DENVER … etc. You don’t have to ‘triple-tab’ the keys or anything. Anything close to the game I want, and it finds it … with an alarming degree of accuracy, and tells you the spread, overunder, time of game, etc. Everything.

The cool thing is, these numbers are exactly what’s being displayed on CentSports whenever the call is made.

So enjoy … play around with it … and tell me what you think. We’ll be adding a lot more to this if people don’t hate it … so … thanks.

We’ll start a forum thread about it so you can give feedback. And this is a BEEEEETA of this, so get ready for some bugs.

Free spreads for everyone! :)
